No Advantage For The Burbs

I’d agree with this but, as many pointed out on the website in the comments section you also have to factor in education costs and quality of life factors when you have a child.  As commenter guestymcspanky put it…

“And quality free education AND taxes. This study is dependent on ignoring critical variables. My parents didn’t move more than an hour outside the city because they couldn’t afford to live in the city anymore.  They left because they couldn’t afford to live in the city AND pay two private school tuition’s.  They couldn’t afford private school in the suburbs either, but they didn’t have to worry about it because the public schools were not recidivist factories.”

i’ve been thinking/saying this for a while now - it’s just not cheaper to live in the suburbs if you’re having to spend a lot of time commuting. and how much are those daily hours of miserable commuting worth to you? i’ll never allow myself to be in a situation where commuting is a big part of my life.
